Established in 1994.
Steamers began in 1994 and moved exclusively to take-out in 1998. In 2016, the restaurant reopened in Southern Shores, where the new location allows them to stay open year-round. Today, Steamers offers both dine-in and take-out options along with catering capabilities.

In 1994, Steamers co-founder Linda Coats Welch not only came up with the original Outer Banks New England-style clambake, but also the restaurant recipe for success: combine the high quality food of a big city restaurant with the casual atmosphere and fresh seafood of the beach, and vacation-going families and their friends will keep coming back.
