History
Established in 1946.
Our story begins in 1946 when Gus, Jack, and Mike, a band of pioneering relatives, left their family-owned bar in Cleveland, Ohio and headed west on Route 66, sampling the flavors of the Mid-West and South along the way. Driven by their love of down home cooking and family values, they settled in sleepy South Pasadena and purchased a little diner called Hamburger Mac's, launching their dream of bringing the art of BBQ to the west coast.
Flash forward 60 years and meet Chris and John Bicos, today proud owners of the Gus's BBQ you know and love. Though the restaurant has been renovated, the Bicos brothers continue to share the values originally in the restaurant; providing the greatest possible guest experience and an authentic cooking philosophy that uses only the freshest California ingredients.
