Established in 1994.
Vijay Bist opened his first Amber India location in 1994 in Mountain View, CA. After the success of his flagship restaurant, he began to open additional locations to continue to share his passion for Indian cuisine. Today you can visit us in San Francisco, Los Altos, Milpitas, and right here on Santana Row in San Jose.

Vijay attended culinary school in India and Switzerland, trained in Germany, and eventually came to the U.S. to get his MBA. In 1994, he decided to act upon his immense passion for Indian cuisine and hospitality by opening his first Amber India restaurant in Mountain View. The rest is history.
