Monsoon East, located in Bellevue, Washington, is the second restaurant from our family. We first brought modern Vietnamese to Monsoon in Seattle back in 1999. We're quite a bit larger than our older sibling and we feature a full bar, a private dining area and free lunch delivery. We try and take the traditional and give it a northwest flair!

History

Established in 1999.

We grew up in Saigon, where the cuisine was influenced not only by what was freshest every day, but by Chinese and European cooking traditions. At Monsoon we try to blend traditional Vietnamese cuisine with Pacific Northwest innovation. Join us for contemporary Vietnamese cuisine served in a modern, elegant setting. Chef Sophie Banh's family is from Saigon...all eight of them. And while most siblings would argue as to who was next in line for the bathroom, their battleground was in the kitchen and the point of contention was which meal would be served.Nearly two decades later and after distinctive paths, siblings Sophie and Eric found themselves together again, this time in Seattle, not Saigon. This time in their own kitchen, not their mother's.She never anticipated such positive reviews from local and national critics including Bon Appetit's 2002 Best Neighborhood Restaurants, as well as a StarChefs.com Rising Star Award in 2003. Don't forget as well an extensive wine list which has garnered the Wine Spectator Award for the past three years.
