One of Seattle's oldest diners with a legendary dive bar. Stiff drinks and huge portions of homemade diner classics. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night. Seattle's best happy hour. We're known for our great Philly Cheesesteaks, hamburgers, chicken fried steak, sandwiches, fish & chips and Pot Roast. And we're famous for our small, dimly lit dive bar. We've been serving Queen Anne since 1930. In the shadow of the Space Needle and steps away from Seattle Center and the new Climate Pledge Arena. A great place to eat and drink before and after Kraken games!

History

Established in 1930.

C. Preston Smith and his wife Frances both quit their jobs in 1929 to start The 5 Point Café in Belltown. A year later they opened The Mecca Café on Lower Queen Anne. When Prohibition ended in 1933, both locations opened two of the first legal bars in Seattle, and business started booming. Preston's son Dick Smith took over the family business in 1975. Dick kept Preston's tradition of large portions for good prices going. After Dick died in 2001, The 5 Point fell on hard times, eventually almost going out of business before being purchased (and saved) by David Meinert in 2009. Meanwhile The Mecca stayed in the Smith family with Dick's wife Darlene, eventually becoming owned and operated by Darlene's daughter in law Karon Hanke, who kept it alive and thriving until she sold to David Meinert in 2019, finally reuniting the family businesses.
