Masa Mexican Kitchen & Cantina serves creative, mexican-inspired dishes that utilize high quality local ingredients elevated by inventive seasoning blends, salsas and house made sauces. Whether you're lounging on our large, open air patio sampling complimentary chips and salsa or people watching out our roll-up doors while sipping on our bartender's margarita, the Masa experience will be sure to make you feel good. Our dishes are lighter and fresher than many traditional Mexican dishes so you don't leave with that heavy "I just ate an entire brick of cheese" feeling. Our friendly staff is quick to suggest their favorite items like our carne asada made with prime grade hanger steak, citrus-infused ceviche and carnitas. Our talented bartenders love to to put a smile on your face with their fresh juice cocktails using our hand-picked selection of tequilas and mezcals. Don't miss our famous Paloma slushy or Bartenders Margarita. While Masa is a perfect adult gathering place, it's also a place that welcomes families to make for a fun and easy dining experience with a great kids menu and changing stations in both the women's and men's room (you're welcome single dads :)). Business Owner

Chef Ryan Shimabukuro has always loved the unification powers that good food bring to a community. Growing up in Seattle, Washington, Ryan worked in every restaurant position from dishwasher, to server, bartender to management. In 2005 he left his career as an actuary and followed his dream to attend Seattle Central's Culinary Arts program and has never looked back. Starting out at Ballard's popular Matador restaurant, running the kitchen and learning the value of a great plate of nachos, he then took the General Manager and Chef de Cuisine position at Bennett's Bistro in Mercer Island for 9 years. Once again, following his heart to open his own place and make the kind of food he enjoys eating and cooking the most... Mexican. Ryan has built his restaurant in the amazing community of Issaquah, and you'll see his warm personality and welcoming nature reflected in the staff he  surrounds himself with and awesome locals he attracts to enjoy his dishes.
