Opened winter 2014 in Midtown, Weights and Measures is a 5,000-square-foot casual neighborhood restaurant, bakery and bar located in a 1950s industrial warehouse at 2808 Caroline Street. The project is the result of a long-standing partnership among four like-minded Houston locals: a developer, a bartender, a chef and a baker. The ultimate goal was to create a comfortable, sincere and welcoming place for Houstonians to dine, relax, socialize and share great experiences. Mornings offer daily baked breads and pastries as well as locally-roasted Amaya coffee and freshly squeezed juices from the bakery. For lunch and dinner, the kitchen delivers a seasonal, quintessentially American menu (not committed to any one cuisine culture) with an emphasis on wood-fired meats and vegetables, bread-centric plates to share and various styles of pizza from a wood-burning oven. A full bar will operate throughout the evening, hosting a huge stable of bottled craft beers, an affordable wine list clearly obsessed with small production, and a large variety of spirits and cocktails.

History

Established in 2014.

Weights and Measures was created through the like-minded partnership among Ian Rosenberg, Mike Sammons, Richard Kaplan and Heath Wendell. The four partners are extremely excited to finally realize the fruition of this combined effort which has been in the planning and development stage for years. Like the city of Houston, Weights and Measures is an entity that is meant to grow and expand in scope from a solid core. The partners feel Houston is one of the strongest and most vibrant cities in the world. Its people are kind, generous and always supportive of new ventures. At the core of Houston, there is a solid nexus of skill, creativity and the propensity for continued growth. Weights and Measures will seek to emulate this pattern, growing and expanding over the ensuing months and years from a solid and certain base.
