History

Established in 2013.

Old 300 BBQ is bringing BBQ back to Blanco. The Old 300 BBQ is a tribute to the founders of Texas, "The Old 300," the first 300 settlers who came into Texas with Stephen F. Austin. We celebrate the old 300 and Texas history every day by making great Texas BBQ. Come and eat it!

Pitmaster Ladd Pepper was born in Kansas City, a legendary BBQ town in its own right. Ladd grew up in Blanco and continued his education at Texas A&M. At A&M he became a true student of Texas BBQ. He mentored in a small family-owned smoke house where he learned the art of Texas-style BBQ, and his passion for Texas BBQ has burned ever since.Some highlights of his BBQ career include serving Texas A&M coach  R.C. Slocum, setting up the largest "live fire" cooking demonstration in American history, and having the privilege to be personally selected to prepare BBQ in Washington D.C. during President Obama's Inauguration.  He has met and cooked for many celebrities, but his favorite customers are everyday folks. We will be here, reminded of our pledge to you, our customer, to serve you the BEST!
