History

Established in 1953.

Our History The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers began construction on the Belton Dam in 1952. Soon after work began, an enterprising Frank Smith began selling snow cones to the workers and public. Instantly Frank recognized the potential for a business that catered to lake goers and the idea of Frank's Lakeview Inn was born. A few years later, he built a restaurant overlooking the lake; "Frank's Lakeview Inn" became known for its food and spectacular views of Belton Lake. Over the years, the restaurant was remodeled to meet the demands of the public. Frank's Lakeview Inn and the Anchor Club successfully operated for the next 30 years. Sadly, Frank passed away in 2000 but his legacy and the businesses he created live on. In 2005 a group of investors planned a new concept for the restaurant. Frank's closed for the next two years while construction was underway. The restaurant concept that developed was a casual, full-service, family restaurant called The Dead Fish Grill.
