In 1987, Ronald Cheng embarked on a culinary venture that changed Austin's restaurant scene forever. We began by serving Chinese classics, but over the last few decades, we've expanded to include a variety of vibrant Asian favorites in three locations. Our menus range from traditional Chinese dishes to Americanized fusion favorites to authentic Japanese sushi, and our bars offer specialty cocktails that make for the perfect refreshing pair to any dish. History

Established in 1987.

Owner, Chef Ronald Cheng, started Chinatown in 1987. We offer a wide selection of dishes representing all regional cooking styles in China. We also feature Dim Sum on the weekends and major holidays and provide an outstanding selection of sushi items. We have an extensive wine selection and have received the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine.

Business Owner

Ronald is the youngest son of immigrants from Taiwan. The Cheng family owns the oldest, continuously operated Chinese restaurants in Austin. Ronald is a University of Texas graduate.
