History

Established in 1999.

Started by Chef Dan Maggipinto, Caffé Nonna was one of the first chef owned restaurants in Nashville. It is the only restaurant of it's style in the city. Small, cozy, warm, quaint and vibrant, all recipes are original family recipes handed down from Chef Dan's Italian grandmother ('Nonna') who raised her family in Abruzzi, Italy during the early 1900s. Caffé Nonna has been awarded "Best Italian in Nashville" SEVEN times and was featured on Diner's Drive-Ins and Dives on Food Network in 2013.

Danny Maggipinto started Caffé Nonna (meaning: Grandmother) to preserve his grandmother's 100+ year old Italian family recipes. His grandmother grew up in Abruzzi, Italy and, during the 1920s, began to experiment with traditional Italian recipes. Her recipes have been handed down through three generations and now live preserved in Caffé Nonna's menu, delighting folks for over 100 years.
