Pizza Brain is an American-style pizzeria and pizza culture museum, headquartered in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA. Pizza Brain specializes in making the best gas-fired, brick oven, thin-crust pizza in Philadelphia. We offer dine in, pick up and delivery. Our numerous local and national accolades include: 3 Philadelphia Magazine "Best of Philly" awards, 2 Best Pizza Slices in America rankings, placement in Food Network's 50 Top Pizza Deliveries from Coast to Coast and Zagat's 10 Killer Slices of Pizza in Philly. Pizza Brain is also home to the world's largest collection of pizza related items as certified by the Guinness Book of Records.

History

Established in 2012.

(From Wikipedia) In May 2010, Kensington-based artist Brian Dwyer organized "Give Pizza Chance" - Philadelphia's first pizza-based art show - in which pizza served as muse for more than 25 artists who displayed their work at a local gallery. Inspired by the show's success, Dwyer became fascinated with the communal and seemingly boundless reach of pizza; seeking out more pizza-related memorabilia, with the intention of turning the pizza art exhibit into a yearly occurrence. In December 2010, Dwyer teamed up with Joe Hunter, a South Carolina pizza chef & recent transplant to Philly. Less than a month later, businessman Michael Carter and industrial artist Ryan Anderson joined the team. Together, the four of them turned an art show into a business model by developing the Pizza Brain museum and restaurant concept: a place that serves delicious artisan pies in a museum-like space that captures and commemorates pizza as a cultural icon. Pizza Brain opened it's doors to the public on 9/7/12.

Pizza Brain has the same ownership today as when it first opened its doors four years ago: four young gentleman who share a passion for pizza.  Today, 3 remain involved in the day to day functions of the store.  Joe, Ryan and Michael play different roles.  Michael, the originator of the museum and restaurant concept, is the general manager of the store.  Joe, the originator of Pizza Brain's taste and unique pies, oversees the continuing development of the store's recipes and pie flavor profiles.  Ryan, our arbiter algontiae, is responsible for Pizza Brain's amazing aesthetic.
