History

Established in 1743.

The Blue Bell Inn has a rich history of welcoming guests since 1743. The Inn was actually marked as the "White Horse Inn" on military maps that led George Washington and his troops to the historic Battle of Germantown. In 1796, the name was changed to The Blue Bell Inn and a blue bell was hung outside so that those who could not read would be able to recognize the Inn. Today, the famous blue bell is still prominently displayed. In 2013, after changing ownership, Blue Bell Inn closed its doors and underwent extensive renovations and redesign for over a year. In an effort to preserve the historical significance, various aspects of the Inn were kept intact and enhanced through thoughtful restoration. A more spacious floor plan was developed and new materials such as white oak and Italian porcelain floors were introduced to create a unique rustic-meets-modern dining environment. Today, Blue Bell Inn is a stunning architectural mélange spanning three centuries.
