Established in 1983.

Rufus and Roxie Pritchard have owned and operated The Dunes Restaurant since 1983. It didn't take long for the restaurant to become a family-run establishment and a Nags Head dining tradition.

I graduated from college and went into banking.  Within a few years, I had married and had 3 young children to support.  My wife and I took the leap of faith into the restaurant business.  I apprenticed for almost a year under the old owner and then took the reins - and the mortgage payment - and off we went.  It's been a heck of a ride.  Now over 40 years later we're still at The Dunes cooking over a million breakfasts.   Dinners - we've cooked a few less . . . but we love what we do.
