History

Established in 2017.

Formerly The Kitchen + Market at Revolution Mill, Kau is Greensboro, North Carolina's first all-encompasing restaurant, butcher, and bar. Kau was born from the mind of our owner, Kayne Fisher. Everything, from the food to the design and even to the staff, has been carefully curated and chosen based on Kayne's vision. The building of Kau restaurant was the carpentry shop of Revolution Cotton Mills, the South's first flannel mill, which was opened in 1898 by Moses and Ceasar Cone. We have incorporated the original elements, such as reclaimed wood flooring, beams, brick, floors & ceilings, into our restoration, with the goal of bringing a sense of industrial warmth to the space.

Kayne F.

Business Owner

Kayne had dreamed of owning his own chop house and neighborhood market since childhood. He was born in Albuquerque, NM, spent some of his youth in Detroit, MI with his Italian grandmother and landed in Greensboro in 1988. By 1996, he was co-owner of Old Town Draught House. Kayne went on to open two more draught houses and eventually Natty Greene's Brewing Co. in 2004. His next 14 years were spent opening two more restaurants, a production brewing facility and expanding Natty Greene's distribution from Washington, DC to Savannah, GA. In August of 2018, Kayne took the opportunity to solely take on the rebrand of The Kitchen + Market at Revolution Mill and his brain-child - Kau.
