History

Established in 2009.

The Dandelion Market takes its name from a famous outdoor market that thrived in Dublin City Center back in the early 70's. What started out as a one-man gig selling sheepskin coats from his front doorstep grew to become much more. People from all walks of life could be found haggling with street vendors; you never knew what you might find in some of those stalls. It was the place to be, growing from just clothes and food to include the city's poets and artists showcasing their wares. Live music began to vibrate through the cobblestone streets as it became a popular spot for bands to play. Dandelion Market morphed into a fashionable, yet essential, part of city life in Dublin - a cultural landmark that evoked a nostalgia for a time when life seemed simpler... where the focus was on friends, food and family. Strangers became friends in that place. We suppose that is part of what made that moment in time so special: "Makin' a trip to the Dando."
