Welcome to The Roundhouse, an American gem located inside the James Newbury Hotel in the heart of Beacon, NY. Our modern cuisine serves modern American cuisine inspired by the agricultural richness of the Hudson Valley. Our menus highlight local farms, wineries, distilleries, and all of the amazing food and beverage craftsmen of the Hudson Valley. The Restaurant is located in our main building situated at the corner of Main and East Main Streets in Beacon. All of our tables have waterfall and creek views from the Roundhouse building's floor-to-ceiling windows. In an effort to accommodate all guests, specific tables cannot be requested. History

Established in 2012.

The historic structures on the property were built in the early 1800s and home to many businesses across the last 200 hundred years. The property was originally part of Matteawan Manufacturing Company, a textile manufacturer and one of the first factories in Beacon. The property later housed H.N. Swift Machine Shop, which manufactured the first lawnmowers in the US. One of last businesses to call the property home was Braendly Dye Works, which operated as late as the 1970's. The rounded shape of our namesake building supposedly supported proper ventilation for the blacksmiths who worked here. Also key to successful production in these factories was the Fishkill Creek and a number of turbines. A massive turbine located in the Roundhouse building was fed from the creek above the falls via a sluiceway that runs parallel to the train tracks and used to power a belt system. Once a bustling factory complex, the property had fallen into disrepair when big industry left the area.

About Chef Terrance BrennanChef Brennan started cooking as a teenager, working in his father's small restaurant in the suburbs of Washington DC. From there he made his way to famed NYC restaurant Le Cirque and then to Europe for two years of cooking at the most prestigious Michelin-starred restaurants. After returning to the US, Chef Brennan opened Picholine, which earned him 3 stars from the New York Times, 4 stars from New York Magazine and 2 stars in the Michelin Guide. He went on to open Artisanal and the Artisanal Premium Cheese Center, a facility dedicated to the world's finest cheeses. Chef Brennan's recent move to the Hudson Valley has greatly influenced his approach to cooking and inspired the creation of his new restaurant at The Roundhouse.
