First-time visitors usually come to St. Anselm for the signature beef (the unbeatable $29 hanger steak), and rightly so, before being flabbergasted by what else the kitchen had to offer — notably an arsenal of vegetables, meat, and seafood cooked expertly on an open fire, which you should absolutely pair with a side of pan-fried mashed potatoes, and a magnum from the deep wine list, if you have a full crew with you.

Established in 2011.

Joe Carroll of Spuyten Duyvil and Fette Sau opened St Anselm, an American Tavern with the idea of being a neighborhood spot with great food and a creative wine list. Best known for the Butcher's Steak and Ax Handle Rib Eye, the grilled seafood and veggies are also big standouts at this cozy spot.
