History

Established in 2006.

The goal behind opening Ovelia was to offer a taste of Greek cooking at its core. Most of the dishes have been family recipes for generations although Ovelia specialties are modern creations the stay true to the greek fundamentals. We matched this philosophy with the innovative decor, international sounds and award winning cocktails.

Chef Ioannis Giannakas has been a chef for over 37 years.Chef Evangelia Giannakas has brings her Greek/Izmir flavors to our table.Peter Giannakas, has appeared on Chopped, Beat Bobby Flay, Food Pix, Breaking Bread, NBC, ABC, Mike Colameco's Real Foodhis recipes have been featured on Plate magazine, the I Love Corn cookbook, Edible Queens.Chef Pete Wrote/Performed and cooked in "The MusiKitchen" at Lincoln Center.Chris Giannakas designed the restaurant and all of the graphics/menus/logos. Chris has been an honored guest at Gracie Mansion, 2018 Powhatan Honoree; Appeared/interviewed by CNN, Al Jazeera, CBS, ABC and interviewed by the Daily news and New York Times.
