History

Established in 2005.

With his parents receipes and the helping hand from siblings, and aunt Hanco's was established in 2005. At that time Vietnamese Sandwich & Bubble Tea wasn't very popular at all especially in Boerum Hill, Park Slope or Brooklyn Heights. In the first few months of business not many people knew about Hanco's opening and business wasn't picking up. Hanco's siblings panic and insisted Hanco to close down the business. However, Hanco had confident and did not give up. The confidence was from the few customers that gave a thumbs up right before they left the store. About 4 months of operation, Hanco's cash is running out not enough for next month rent. Fortunately and luckily good timing Hanco's was saved by the bell! One day Hanco's receive a call from the NY Times about writing a short story about Hanco's. A week later the paper was published and Hanco's sandwiches starting to and for the first time sold out of sandwiches. Ever since, there are very few that do not know about Hanco's.

Business owner information

Hanco T.

Business Owner

Hanco was born in Vietnam in 1976 and came to America in 1980. He was grown up in Carroll Gardens. He always had a dream to open his own business and use his parents recipes. One day Hanco met the owner of a spa which had just close down the business from that space and told Hanco about it. Hanco was excited but worried he might not have enough money for the business. Hanco then tried to convince all his friends to partner with him. His best friend which he first tried to convince has the same dream like Hanco. He was interested but later has backed out. Then he was able to convince his long time friend/co-worker to join but unfortunately has also backed out. Hanco was really upset not because they backed out but because his best friend didn't had the courage to tell him. Instead his best friend will ignore Hanco whenever he talks about his business plan. Later Hanco acknowledged and moved on with the gamble and rented that space.  Thats only the beginning thanks for reading!

This is my absolute favorite banh mi spot! You can order any time of the day and the bread will still be just as fresh and crispy. I've never tried banh mi...
