About the Business

Specialties

Where food is art. We have a very simple philosophy. First, we want you to feel welcome and comfortable. Second, we take a lot of pride in our food. When we say, "home-made," we mean that it is made, by us, right here at the restaurant. We hand-pick the ingredients to be sure they are fresh, because we make every dish as if we were going to eat it ourselves. We don't include anything on the menu unless we feel that it will be the best in town. We hope you enjoy eating here as much as we do.

History

Established in 2004.

Have you ever been eaten somewhere during your travels and said, "I wish we could get this in Jacksonville!" That's how Picasso's came about. I grew up in St. Louis eating toasted ravioli and pizza. It never occurred to me when I moved, that I wouldn't be able to get these. I've realized that most places have their specialties. When I lived in Manhattan, I grew to appreciate the New York-style pizza. I met Chris working at one of the finest restaurants in Jacksonville. I learned that he also grew up in St. Louis. We talked about how we missed the dishes we couldn't get here. That's when we decided to open Picasso's, to make items we craved from other cities and couldn't find around here. So, whether it's St. Louis- or New York-style pizza, a Kentucky Hot Brown, Carnegie Deli cheesecake, the salads, toasted ravioli, original-recipe Oysters Rockefeller, Gooey Butter cake, or one of Picasso's originals, we make them because we love them, and we hope you will, too. Don Brindley

Chris E.

Business Owner

Chef Chris Evans, a native of St. Louis, Missouri was led to The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY where he earned his culinary degree. Young Chris was surrounded by family and friends who regularly shared their joy of cooking. When his mother wasn't preparing great family meals, she'd introduce Chris to fine restaurants. She inspired him to become a chef. His first kitchen job was washing dishes at a restaurant in Mobile, AL. Chris has held every position in a restaurant and has worked for some outstanding chefs. After graduating from CIA in New York he and his wife, Christi, chose Jacksonville to call home. Chef Chris is grateful to have met and worked with some of Jacksonville's great chefs.   Chef Chris met Don Brindley, another St. Louisan. Their friendship started over a meal that Chris had cooked for Don and turned into a partnership to create Picasso's in 2004.
