History

Established in 1975.

The Capdevila Family emigrated from Cuba to the United States in 1962 on the Freedom Flights to Miami, Florida. Maximino and Coralia Capdevila fled Cuba wanting a better life for their boys after Fidel Castro and communism took over. Even though they did not know the language and they did not have any resources, they knew that if they worked hard they could achieve the American dream. Maximino and Coralia decided to settle in Tampa along with their four boys, Jorge, Luis, Albert, and Maxi, Jr. Maximino worked eleven years for The Acme Plating Company where he gained the respect of his fellow employees and supervisors. He became the foreman of the company and worked there until a tragic death of a brother in law that die at the company under Max watch. He then left to open his own business. Louis Capdevila is the VP of La Teresita Inc. L.A. as he is known has worked with the family from the beginning of their enterprise in 1972. L.A. has also authored 9 books, including " How We Did It" A restaurant success story. He is also a minister and has worked for may years raising funds for charity projects all over the world. La Teresita Restaurant is visited by national, state and local politicians especially every election year, from presidents, senators and local officials. L.A. Capdevila is married to Anita and they have three children, Daniel, Nicole and Justin. Louis and Anita are the proud grandparents of Briana Marie, Ana- Liz, Sophie, Jose Luis and Amelia
