History

Established in 2011.

Barceloneta emerged on the scene in 2011 and was one of the original venues that amplified Sunset Harbour into the fashionable Miami neighborhood it is now reputed for. A trendy & casual venue, Chef Juliana Gonzalez has redefined Spanish Mediterranean cuisine, creating an elevated style of tapas and platillos, that are served to the center of the table, family style. Many may not know this, but Barceloneta was named after a little town in Puerto Rico, founded by Pubbelly Chef José Mendin’s great grandfather, and also inspired by a popular fishing neighborhood of the same name in Barcelona. Both now popular and trendy towns. The name’s fitting (although, slightly conflicting with co-owner Manuel Suarez-Inclan’s Madrid roots … he did however put his soccer rivalry aside!).

Manuel holds a Bachelors in Business and International Hospitality Management from the Swiss Hotel Management School, Les Roches (Bluche, Switzerland, 2002) and a diploma of Hospitality Management from the Swiss Hotel Management School, Les Roches (Marbella,Spain 2000)Before starting his career in the US, Manuel fulfilled several positions in Europe while completing his studies. He worked in Holland (2000) for the Meridian Hotel as Assistant Restaurant Manager as well as in Munich (2001) for Dukaez Restaurant as the Assistant Catering Manager where he was responsible for designing menus as well as developing business.In the fall of 2003 Manuel choose to move to the USA where he worked in the opening team for the Four Seasons Hotel Miami as Assistant Food and Beverage Manager.
