Specializing in Middle Eastern dishes and family recipe's from the kitchen of the Der Bedrossian family for more than 30 years. Try our Chicken Pomegranate and Lamb Lule over Rice Pilaf. If you come on a Friday, don't miss the Lamb Moussaka. Our Fillos and Kebabs are divine. Be sure to taste the Armenian style Chicken Cilicia Fillo: chicken, almonds, raisins and cinnamon baked in flaky fillo. The hummos, baba ghanoush, dolma, and djajiki keep locals coming again and again. The Mediterranean Meza is recommended, for small plates of all of the above and more. Share on a date or with friends. In addition to our dine in and take out menu we offer our CATERING services for Delivery and Pickup. We also offer full service catering for weddings and special events.

Since 1979, La Mediterranee has been serving homemade Middle Eastern specialties in a cozy, comfortable setting. We've been family owned and run from the start!

Business Owner

Founder, Owner, & Chef of La Mediterranee, since opening day 1979.  Levon was born and raised in Lebanon and moved to California in the mid 70's.  The idea to start a restaurant began when Levon was inspired to serve his Armenian Potato Salad and Kefta Kebabs at Chico State parties and dances! His move to SF literally brought Armenian / Lebanese cuisine to the SF food scene.  He opened on Fillmore Street with the idea to begin a casual, lively, quick, and welcoming cafe in which to bring his family recipes for all to enjoy!  Shortly thereafter, demand grew for a location in the Castro and another year later in Berkeley.   Levon treats all three locations as works of art in progress, instilling his philosophy behind food, service, experience, consistency, & inspiration.  His motto is "the smallest things make the biggest differences."   Levon is currently passing on his wisdom and techniques to his son, Vanick, and daughter, Laurice, who are present in the cafe and catering at La Med!
