Chiles Rellenos, Mole, Caldo de Pollo, Mole de olla, and Chilaquiles offerings are among our most popular items. As a family operated & run business, we take pride in serving delicious & flavorful authentic Mexican dishes from different parts of the country including Veracruz, Oaxaca, Puebla, Yucatan, and Mexico City. Our loyal following of customers return weekly for breakfast to feast on Chilaquiles with Salsa Verde, Salsa Ranchera, or Mole. Our most flavorful and popular breakfast dishes are our Chipotle Omelette with poblano peppers, seared mushrooms, and cheese, and our Huevos Divorciados (two fried eggs, one with green sauce, one with red sauce, chilaquiles and black beans down the middle of the plate). We also serve a variety of soups & salads like Crema de Zanahoria, Crema de Elote, and Pozole. We offer hand made corn tortillas for our tacos, & a great selection of salsas to go with your chips. We also take pride in our offerings of tasty margaritas, tequila, and a handful of Mexican beers on tap.

History

Established in 1989.

Patricia & Francisco Jimenez married in Mexico City & had their first 2 kids there. In 1981 they arrived in San Antonio, where Francisco started working as a bus boy at a Mexican restaurant. He then worked at an Italian restaurant & was promoted to manager. In 1984 they moved to L.A., where Francisco worked as a waiter in a Mexican restaurant. In 1989 the pair decided to open their own restaurant. In the beginning, La Cabañita was a small place, which at the time sat 40 people. Francisco, Patricia & their 2 oldest children (then 9 & 11) ran the restaurant. In 2002 La Cabañita expanded into the 110 capacity restaurant it is now. The dishes are family recipes, most of which were created by Maria Vazquez, Francisco's mother. Since it's opening, La Cabañita has received various awards in the area & even the Greater L.A. area. We're so thankful to have the privilege to serve all of our clients who have been a huge part of La Cabañita over the last 26 years.
