We opened in 2007 hoping to spread some East Coast sandwich love out here in beautiful San Diego! Came From Escondido California with Hungry Bear Sub Shop, Then Moved to Vista California to create the Flagship Store . Hungry Bear Deli , a Jewish style delicatessen just like the ones I grew up eating at as a kid In Miami . Everything made here is made to order, Completely Fresh and Locally Sourced . Organic and GMO Free whenever possible and soon we will be Delivering directly to you . No freezers, No Microwave, No kidding .

I have always loved big, fat grilled sandwiches growing up back east but when I moved to America's finest city in 1997 I could not find anything even close to the ones I loved back home. Great Mexican food yes, great seafood and sushi yes, but awesome subs, not so much in SD.So I decided to open my own shop so I could make them for the people (and eat them myself)We do not even have a freezer, microwave or heat lamps here at the shop. We cut, slice and dice everything fresh in house daily.Our methods are very time consuming and labor intensive but we think doing it the hard way is the right way and when you taste our subs and salads you will taste the freshness.
