History

Established in 2007.

Located in the heart of Sacramento, America's Farm to Fork Capital, Ella opened in September of 2007 and was an instant hit. Garnering press and praise for its innovative design concept, the accolades continued with numerous top reviews for food, ambiance and service, including The Sacramento Bee's highest star rating. Ella belongs to the group of high-end dining venues owned and run by our family - the Selland family. We also operate the unparalleled, pioneering Sacramento institution, The Kitchen Restaurant, and the upscale East Sac neighborhood market and cafe, Selland's. Ella has taken downtown Sacramento by storm and continues to shine on the corner of 12th and K streets in Sacramento's Kay District.

Executive Chef and Owner Randall Selland has been an innovator on the Sacramento Dining scene for nearly three decades now.  Along with his family, wife and fellow Chef Nancy Zimmer and their children/business partners Tamera Baker and Josh Nelson, Selland has been fixture at the Farmers Markets, championing locally and sustainably grown products and local producers from the very beginning.  First at The Kitchen, then at Selland's Market Cafe, Ella Dining Room and Bar and OBO' Italian Table & Bar, Randall Selland and family have carved out a unique niche in the Sacramento dining scene that sets the standard for innovation and excellence in the region.
