Egghead's Restaurant
About the Business
Specialties
We compost all of our food waste. Our use of attractive, compostable, strong, and grease and cut-resistant sugarcane plates allows us to save water; virtually eliminate the problem of leftover food products getting into either the water pipes or the landfill, reduce the need for cleaning agents, reduce the use of fuel, and greatly reduce wrist and back pain for our staff! We have a unique Wizard of Oz theme and specialize in small town hospitality, eggs Benedict, unique Hollandaise sauces, Belgian waffles, amazing omelettes, Dungeness crab dishes, fantastic hamburgers, fresh squeezed juices and fun. See our Wizard of Oz collection and enjoy reading our creative menu.
History
Established in 1976.
Eggheads Restaurant was established in 1976 at 326 N. Main Street by Paul and Melinda Poppler. The emphasis was on providing fresh, quality, local and organic food. There was no Wizard of Oz theme in the beginning. There is no relationship between the name “Eggheads” and the Wizard of Oz story or movie, but sometime within the first two years, the painted yellow line on the floor that led guests to the bathroom became the yellow brick road to the Emerald City and a theme was born! We are fun and funky, very small, quirky and local family owned.

Business Owner
We are Marvin and Becky Parrish. We bought Eggheads in December of 1999 and have now owned Eggheads for 24 years! We have three sons all of whom have worked in the restaurant. Marvin's family goes back in Fort Bragg for six generations. They homesteaded a farm on land that is now part of the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. You can see a memorial to the Parrish family when you visit. Living and raising a family in Fort Bragg is a precious gift. I love waving to friends on the street and knowing the bank tellers and store clerks. And you can't beat the scenery. We are just a little bit spoiled!Marvin and I started out in Fort Bragg when we got married 43 years ago and then had an opportunity to live in Germany. We stayed five years and then moved to the Washington DC area where we settled for ten years. When we started our family, it was time to come home. So here we are, so many years later, running a family business and living on the northern California coast. Woo hoo!
