Copenhagen Bakery & Cafe is a full-service bakery in Burlingame specializing in European and Scandinavian pastries, cakes, breads, cookies and many other delectable items. We make everything in-house from scratch, from our freshly baked bread to the turkey in our sandwiches that is cooked on site. Choose from a variety of Unlike many bakeries that only offer cakes, cookies and bread items, we do everything! From decadent pastries and sweets to hearty sandwiches and much more, there's something for everyone at Copenhagen Bakery & Cafe. Our cafe is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and feel free to stop by and pick up some goodies to go. If you need a beautiful cake for an upcoming event, we can help. Our cake designers are masters at creating special occasion and wedding cakes that taste every bit as wonderful as they look. Special orders are available for everything from wedding cakes to catered office lunches.

History

Established in 1977.

For over 45 years, Copenhagen Bakery & Cafe has been providing delectable cakes, authentic Danish pastries and a variety of tasty delicacies to Burlingame residents and visitors. We have become a staple within the neighborhood, and have many regular customers who have been coming to us for years. We've made cakes for them, and now we're making cakes for their kids. Our store was recently remodeled to incorporate new dining tables and chairs, and we now have a great outdoor seating area for you to enjoy as well. Whether you've been visiting us for years or you're coming in for the first time, we look forward to serving you.

Ralf Nielsen, the founder of Copenhagen Bakery was raised in Denmark, which is where the Danish focus for Copenhagen Bakery & Cafe comes from. He didn't think there were enough good bakeries in Burlingame, so he decided to start his own, teaming up with his wife, Shari in 1977.  As the business grew, in a few years, Ralf's brother, Ben joined the operations as co-owner.Over the years, Ralf and the team have loved getting to know our neighbors and Burlingame visitors alike, and we hope you have a great experience next time you visit.In 2022, after 45 years in business, Ralf, Shari and Ben Nielsen, the original owners retired and passed ownership on to another family, who are also passionate about the hospitality industry. They have over 30 years of experience in owning and managing Bay Area restaurants, cafes and bakeries as a successful family operation.
