Bissap Baobab is an idea planted in the Mission with deep roots in West African Senegalese tradition. Now it has grown and blossomed so that people from all over the world gather under the reach of its branches to celebrate life. I actually started Little Baobab way before it was the restaurant it is, out of my flat in San Francisco, by making only ginger drinks till the roof crashed. I got evicted naturally and politely, and I was forced to open a commercial place. Then we added more goodies to the menu and little Baobab was born in The Mission at a time when no one dared walk around, as the area was rough. Different warriors of musical peace such as M.Franti, Manu Chao, and A.Blondy came by, and a few independent reviewers revealed our little Adobe to the public 15 years ago. We are still alive even though the Mission changed a lot..Happy New Year
