Hotel Valley Ho was cool back in 1956 when it first opened its doors, before Downtown Scottsdale was downtown. It's every bit as chic now, after an expansive but meticulously groomed 2005 renovation. Hotel Valley Ho is centrally located in Downtown Scottsdale, just a short walk from shops, restaurants, and Old Town's renowned art galleries. History

Established in 1956.

Hotel Valley Ho first opened in 1956. It combined modern and Southwestern styles, becoming an instant icon in Downtown Scottsdale. Owner-managers Robert and Evelyn Foehl brought many celebrity guests to the hotel, who had previously stayed at their resort in Southern California. Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood even had their 1957 wedding reception in the hotel ballroom. The hotel went up for sale in 2002 and was purchased by local company MSR Properties. Westroc, another local company, executed a strong vision to restore the hotel to its former mid-century splendor. The hotel reopened in 2005; additions included ZuZu, the OH Pool, and VH Spa. Alan Hess, architect and author, has called Hotel Valley Ho "one of the best-preserved mid-century hotels in the country". Relax in the ZuZu Lounge while sipping on a martini to classic fifties tunes, and you'll forget this mid-century gem exists in the present.

Manager

Born in Melbourne, Andrew Chippindall began and developed his career in hospitality in various properties throughout Australia. His tenure in London with TrustHouse Forte led him to a ski resort in Austria, where he spent six years refining his management skills. Next, Andrew worked as Director of Rooms in Bintan Lagoon, Indonesia. This depth in hospitality experience brought him back to Australia, where he served on the Sydney Organizing Committee for the 2000 Olympic Games. Because he felt his life needed to become more exciting, he met his wife and moved to America. He first worked with Westroc at Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain, and now manages the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale. A devoted snowboarder and fan of all things in the winter, Andrew is eagerly awaiting Scottsdale's first snowfall of the season.
