About the Business

Specialties

At Poquitos we strive to present authentic Mexican cuisine prepared with ingredients that are the best of both worlds- outstanding local sourcing for our meats and produce; unique and direct sourcing for items essential to honoring the culinary traditions of Mexico. While many of our guests stick with more traditional standards such as tacos and enchiladas, we recommend venturing into other areas of the menu to get a true sense of our culinary focus. Try our ceviche, pollo verde, and carne asada.

History

Established in 2011.

If you've seen the sign outside our restaurant, then you've seen its inspiration. We had the idea of a Mexican concept, even before we had finished building our French restaurant, Bastille. When we found this sign at a salvage store in Sodo, we knew we had found the name. The original Poquitos was in the Greenwood neighborhood, and its owner was known to wander his restaurant with a guitar, serenading his guests. We are truly excited to revive the spirit of this great south-of-the-border dining experience.

Business Owner

As General Manager, I work with our other Operating Owner, Dustin Watson, to oversee the day-to-day business of the restaurant. I've worked in the Seattle restaurant business for the last 15 years but started my restaurant career way back in 1988 as a freshman in college. Locally, I've worked at a variety of places that includes the Baltic Room, Bad Juju Lounge, Peso's, Mona's, and Havana. Our culinary team is headed up by our chef Manny Arce, who is a native of Southern California and is well-versed in Mexican cuisine, having also completed culinary internships in both Spain and Italy before coming to Seattle. He's spent time in the kitchen at Union and La Spiga and most recently with chef Shannon Galusha at Bastille.

I love their breakfast burritos - adding the avocado sauce is a game changer. I appreciate the outside facing window for quick pickups - makes it very easy...
