History

Established in 1974.

Phoenecia first opened as a very small mom and pops middle eastern restaurant on California Ave in the West Seattle Junction. West Seattle was a very different place back then with very few ethnic restaurants in sight. Founder Hussein Khazaal would give his food away for free just so his customers could get a taste of these dishes they had never heard of before. He knew once they had a taste of the delicious exotic flavors they would be hooked and coming back for more. Phoenecia has remained family owned and operated to this very day. Now located on 42nd ave phoenecia is run by Hussein’s wife and two daughters. Sadly founder Hussein Khazaal passed in 2009.
