In 1998, there lay a vacant lot with three vacant houses. The land was prime, yet undeveloped, and the houses were set to be demolished. Our founders set out to save the houses -- picking them up, bringing them here, and building a restaurant from them. After many months of hard work, their dreams became a reality and The Spot was born. Over the past two decades, we've been on a mission to deliver "Beachfront Day and Night Done Right." Whether it's their first time on Galveston Island or they're seasoned locals, our guests come for our mouthwatering burgers, locally sourced seafood, and homemade desserts. In fact, nearly everything we serve is made in house every day. From hand-dipped onion rings to gulf shrimp breaded to order, we take flavor seriously. In 1998, here lay a vacant lot and there lay three vacant houses and herein lay a great idea. The land was prime, yet undeveloped, and the houses were set to be demolished. Our founders set out to save the houses -- picking them up, bringing them here and building a restaurant incorporating them. After many months of hard work, their dreams became a reality and The Spot was born. The Spot has grown, expanding year after year. We introduced the laidback island style of Tiki Bar in '05, followed shortly thereafter by our trio of concept bars: Squeeze Ritas & Tequilas, RumShack, and SideYard. Each venue offers its own unique look, atmosphere adn appeal, giving you, our valued guest, five concepts to choose from - all in one convenient Spot!

Business Owner

Lauren Desormeaux is the Director of Operations for Island Famous, Inc. which owns and operates The Spot, Tiki Bar, SideYard, Squeeze and RumShack Bars, as well as The DoubleTree by Hilton Galveston Beach and is developing a Holiday Inn Express & Suites on Galveston Island. Lauren has 16 years' experience in food and beverage operations and is a Cum Laude graduate from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management. She joined Island Famous, Inc. in 2007 because it was a fun place to work with a strong culture built on caring for team members and guests alike. Prior to joining the company; Lauren worked at Hilton, Starbucks, Landry’s and Moody Gardens Hotel & Conference Center.
