History
Established in 1994.
Tony Talanco's grandfather, Steve Talanco, opens his filling station for business in 1924 on Old Castroville Road. Him and Tony's grandmother were making spaghetti dinners from a tiny stove in the back that doubled as their living quarters. Word spread quickly of their tasty meals that they sold and many of their customers got their first taste of "Eye-talian", as most of the South Texans Pronounced it. The expansion of his little filling station and cafe came rapidly; he hired Mexican nationals to work on his expansion. They quickly taught him the art of barbecuing with mesquite wood. In less than 10 years, he was the area's most popular caterer. He hosted many large functions at his large pavilion on the banks of Leon Creek. Tony and Joni Talanco opened for business in January 1996 after 3 years of building and recreating the 1940's Texas Country Store and Service Station. Complete with antique Texas memorabilia, gas pumps, old farm equipment and much more!
