We're an old-fashioned soda fountain, ice cream parlor​, candy store, and coffee shop. We make all of our own Purity ice cream, the first manufacturer of ice cream in Texas. You can watch salt water taffy being made, which is just one of the things we're known for.

History

Established in 1976.

La King's features a 1920's soda fountain that serves malts, shakes, ice cream sodas, sundaes, splits, and floats. We proudly make and serve Purity ice cream, which was Texas' first ice cream manufacturer, founded in 1889 in Galveston Island. Our Master candy maker will delight you with his old time specialties; peanut brittle, divinity, pecan pralines, hand dipped chocolates, fudge, and our famous salt water taffy made right before your eyes on antique equipment. We make more than 50 candies from traditional recipes just waiting for you. You will also find a variety of modern novelty candy that will satisfy everyone's sweet tooth. Our newest addition, a full service coffee shop is ready to serve you fresh brewed Duncan coffee and your favorite espresso drinks.

Ava is wife to Mitch King, the third generation of the family to own and operate La King's Confectionery. She and her husband, alongside Jeffrey, the fourth generation King in the business help to oversee day-to-day operations by making sure their teammates and their customers have everything they need.
