History

Established in 2013.

The concept of Kimura comes out of the real-world experience of its owners Michael Sohocki (founder/owner of Restaurant Gwendolyn) and Jenn Wade. Each of them has a deep connection to Japanese culture. Chef Michael lived in Japan for many years and Jenn is half Japanese. As Restaurant Gwendolyn was named for Chef's grandmother, we continued the theme of honoring our most important family connections by naming Kimura after Jenn's Japanese grandmother. We do well to honor those who have given so much to who we are. Japanese culture is built around food. Go anywhere in the world and it would be hard to find a people that take more pride in the quality, wholesomeness, flavor and beauty of Japanese food. Whether your food is eaten in a swank high-rise or a rickety table at curbside, every dish must be appealing to the pallet and the eye. This is what you will find at Kimura.
