Established in 1996 on historic Sixth Street the Iron Cactus Mexican Restaurant, Grill and Margarita Bar has been serving contemporary Mexican food for over 20 years. We draw our inspiration for our cuisine from various regions in Mexico. The Iron Cactus can be found in 3 locations across Texas. Named one of the top 10 tequila bars in the country, we feature over 100 different types of tequila. With a deep passion for creating bold, unique and flavorful mexican dishes the Iron Cactus stands apart as a premier Mexican restaurant and drinking destination.

History

Established in 1996.

The flagship of our company, the Iron Cactus in downtown Austin is located in the heart of historic 6th street. The turn of the century building was remodeled in 1995 to include our famous Rooftop Patio which offers a fantastic view of Austin. This three level restaurant has become the standard to which locals, tourists, university students, and business people compare the rest. So much so that it is the number one choice for incredible food, refreshing fresh lime juice Margaritas and atmosphere on 6th street. Our hours are: Monday - Thursday: 11am to 10:30pm Friday: 11am to 11pm Saturday: 12pm to 11pm Sunday: 10am to 10:30pm Bar: Sunday - Wednesday: 11am to 12am Thursday and Friday: 11am to 2am Saturday: 12pm to 2am Brunch: Sundays 10am to 3pm Happy Hour: Monday - Friday: 4pm to 7pm

The Iron Cactus evolution began in 1996 when Gary Manley and Michael Pottorff restored a historic, turn of the century building on Sixth Street in Austin, Texas that became the original Iron Cactus. The mission of creating a warm, friendly and unique environment was accomplished and today our restaurants provide guests with the best Mexican food and fresh lime margaritas in the markets we serve.
