Hays City Store is a full service restaurant and bar featuring scratch made Texas inspired comfort food and Texas spirits, craft beer and wine. Our menu features Texas classics like house ground burgers, pan fried chicken fried steak topped with bacon gravy and hand battered fried shrimp. Our chefs create daily specials for lunch and dinner but Fridays we always serve Fried Catfish for lunch and Prime Rib for dinner. The Ice House (Oct '17) offers a full bar and boasts 40 beer taps! and also serves scratch made Pizza (Dinner Wednesday thru Sunday and lunch Friday thru Sunday) Happy Hour daily (4 to 7 - $1 off all bar and $2 off Appetizers) and Accelerated Happy Hour (M-F 4pm to 5pm - $2 off all bar and 1/2 price Appetizers) Bonus specials - Monday 1/2 price bottles wine, Tuesday $3 Pints, Wednesday $8 Mexican Martinis, and Thursday $5 Frozens.

History

Established in 2014.

Hays City Store started out as a gas station/ convenience store sometime in the early 80's. There were not near as many neighbors back then, but those that were became to depend on the store which kept them from having to drive into Kyle or Wimberley for household needs. Sometime around the millennium, a small café was added on which gave area commuters a quick stop for coffee and breakfast in the mornings and a great burger at lunch. In late 2013 the gas pumps were removed and in October 2014, career restaurant managers, Tamra and Travis Tindol bought the store and fulfilled their dreams of opening their own restaurant and bar.
