Established in 2011.

Sompheng "Tarzan" Saybounkham, a Laotion, quit his Austin business job in 1987 and moved to Rockport, TX., where he bought an old 1935 model boat with a War Word II engine. With that boat he started a career in shrimping and harvesting oysters. After some time him and his family moved back to Austin where he worked at oyster bars. One day he decided to start his own business and found a building and started Deckhand Oyster Bar.
