History

Established in 1991.

Look closely at the storied purple building, one of the oldest (if not THE oldest) on North Beach. Situated across the street from the beach near the USS Lexington and the Texas State Aquarium, this historical structure has weathered its share of storms and mayhem and is now home to several active ghosts, more than a few pirates and scores of satisfied patrons. Steve Bonillas took over "The Spanish Kitchen" in 1991 and expanded the restaurant to three distinct, eclectic dining areas over the years. As soon as you enter, your experience begins. You will immediately see the bustling kitchen, which was originally a small bar. Our cooks rock that small kitchen, producing incredibly delicious dishes honed through the years. Steve Bonillas died in 2012, leaving behind his legacy to his wife, Paula, who continues to run Blackbeard's on the Beach and Blackbeard's Too in Ingleside.

Paula inherited Blackbeard's on the Beach and Blackbeard's too in Ingleside a few years ago when her husband, the founder Steve Bonillas, died. Paula stays behind the scenes keeping bills paid and what-not while the Blackbeard's crew, led by General Manager Pete Feydo, continues to run the two Mom & Pop restaurants, continuing Bonillas' legacy of good food, good times and good prices.
