About the Business
Specialties
Specializing in "new-old" Southern dining, Mere Bulles is a beloved restaurant just outside Nashville in the charming Maryland Farms neighborhood. Legendary menu favorites like crab bisque and a fantastic wine and drink list keep locals and tourists alike coming back time and time again. With an elegant but comfortable atmosphere and generous space for outdoor dining and private events, Mere Bulles is a got-to for corporate dinners, special celebrations, and romantic evenings for two. Regarded for their spectacular service, Mere Bulles offers a memorable dining experience and a real taste of fine American Southern cuisine.
History
Established in 2000.
Mere Bulles' history begins with its muse, Mother Bubbles, the grandmother of the original owner. She was born Michele Bouvier around 1840 in Deauville, a city on the Atlantic coast of France. One thing she loved during her life was champagne earning her the nickname "Mother Bubbles," Mere Bulles in French. In 1985, Rodney Wise opened Mere Bulles on Second Avenue in a then-struggling area of downtown Nashville. The atmosphere of Mere Bulles was inspired by Mother Bubbles herself: lively, welcoming, and entertaining. Mere Bulles' downtown success was instrumental in the revitalization of the now vibrant Second Avenue & Broadway district of Nashville. In June 2000, Mere Bulles moved south of Nashville to Maryland Manor, a historic former estate home in Brentwood. The Mansion itself was built in 1942 with bricks salvaged from a previous historic building that was torn down near the site.
