History
Established in 1969.
May of 1969 The Village was completed and The Donut Friar moved in! Mr. James Ryan moved his wife and five children from Bay Village, OH (west of Cleveland) to Gatlinburg and the rest is history. Mr. Ryan is 90 years old and he and his sons are still responsible for the donut making. We have three more dedicated year-round employees that make our work enjoyable and efficient. We are Blessed beyond measure to have loyal families who come year after year, and now generation after generation, for a traditional stop in The Donut Friar.
