About the Business
Specialties
Bassetts Ice Cream specializes in making the creamiest, most delicious ice cream. I suggest trying one of our specialty milkshakes, like the Peanut Butter Dream, or getting a scoop on our house made waffle cone.
History
Established in 1861.
Lewis Dubois Bassett, a Quaker school teacher and farmer, began making ice cream in his Salem, NJ backyard using a mule-turned churn. Still owned and operated by the family, Bassetts Ice Cream is the last original vendor of the Reading Terminal Market from when it opened in 1893.
