Located on Lexington Avenue in the heart of downtown Asheville, Mela Indian Restaurant specializes in North and South Indian food made from scratch with local and organic ingredients. We are certified by the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project for using ingredients produced by local farmers. Come sample our lunch buffet which has a range of delicious options including chicken and naan cooked in our authentic tandoor oven, raita prepared with house-made yogurt, and seasonal vegetarian specialties. The atmosphere at dinner is warm and intimate; specials include such favorites such as pistachio lamb and spinach and goat cheese naan which are baked in our genuine tandoor oven. Mela welcomes children and offers a kids menu. In addition to dine-in, we also offer catering services. We have many options available - please contact us for more details. History
Established in 2005.
Mela Indian Restaurant first opened its doors in 2005. Since then we have gained a great customer base among the community and have won numerous awards. We have been the first-place winner for Best Indian Restaurant in Western North Carolina in the Mountain Xpress Readers' Poll every year since we opened in 2005, as well as overall Favorite Restaurant two years in a row. In addition, we have been recommended by the New York Times. Thank you so much for your support!

Anouk is the proud owner of Mela Indian Restaurant. He was inspired to open the restaurant because he wanted to give his community a chance to taste and experience real Indian cuisine. He also wanted to source locally and use only the highest-quality ingredients possible - it truly makes a difference. Anouk's mom was a chef, and many of the recipes at Mela are from her. His goal is to carry on the tradition and continue to give back to his community.
