Doherty's is your neighborhood pub, serving a variety of unique Irish American Fare including the best Fish & Chips in the triangle and of course the perfect pint of Guinness. We have seen a lot of changes in our community, but there is one thing that has not. That is our commitment to great food, fantastic service, and the health & safety of each and every one of you. History

Established in 2012.

Doherty's traces back to the original Irish Pub in Raleigh,Tir Na Nog. The original owners, including Michael Doherty, opened Connolly's Irish Pub in 1999. Sami Taweel, then an engineering student at NC State, started working at Connolly's and was shortly after introduced to Steve Kanter, the General Manager. In 2005, Connolly's was sold, and Steve moved away. Sami, then became the General Manager of Connolly's, until 2009 when he left to pursue other management opportunities. Without the core group of leadership in place, Connolly's floundered & eventually failed. New opportunity arose as Sami & Michael joined forces with Donovan Favre, a professor at NC State, to reopen the Irish Pub as Doherty's in 2012 and opened a second locatin in Apex, NC two years later. Looking to expand our reach even more, we launched our Food Truck, The Paddy Wagon in 2019.

In 1999 Sami Taweel, then an engineering student at NC State, started working at Connolly's and was shortly after introduced to Steve Kanter, the General Manager.  In 2005, Connolly's was sold, and Steve moved away.  Sami, then became the General Manager of Connolly's, until 2009 when he left to pursue other management opportunities. Sami & Michael Doherty joined forces with Donovan Favre, a professor at NC State, to reopen the Irish Pub as Doherty's in 2012.  Kristen Ready joined Doherty's shortly after and became the General Manager at Cary, giving us the ability to open a second location in Apex in 2014.  Steve rejoined the group after he moved back in 2017 and is now the General Manager of the Apex location.
