We do healthy and we do hearty with an eye on local and seasonal when we can. The idea has always been to serve homestyle simple, delicious and wholesome food that warms your heart.
History
Established in 1996.
Our journey started on a quiet West Village street called Carmine. Two brothers, Dave and Pete, made a bold decision. Without any business experience, any real plan, or anything resembling a thought beyond getting through the day, we opened a restaurant. What we had lacked in experience we made up for with spirit and creativity. We did not want to be businessmen. We were artists. Our little shop at 33 Carmine St. was our original canvas. We set out with a simple mission: to create a place where people would want to be. We named it after our dogs, Moose and Goose Lane.

Pete and Dave wear a few hats: brothers, artists, New Yorkers, and founders of The Grey Dog. The two of them started their first restaurant on a whim, but they put their minds to work and their creativity in gear to bring to life an experience with heart.
