History

Established in 2010.

Founded in 2010 by husband and wife team Jeff and Genie McNally (and former partner Tricia Mclemore), The Floridian's goal was and still is to serve exciting, updated, creative Southern Food sourced from local farms, waters and artisans. Inspired by the cultures and cuisines that comprise our eclectic home state (with a nod to our favorite Latin and Caribbean locales), we wish to feed you and feed you well.

Business Owner

Genie is the chef/owner extraordinaire of The Floridian. A true native (going back 8 generations on her mother's side), she grew up in Nassau County and cut her teeth in Gainesville at various restaurants while attending the University of Florida. Self-taught and driven, Genie and her husband Jeff (who runs the front-of-the-house) opened The Floridian in 2010 with the goal of bringing creative and dynamic dining downtown, coupled with a casual and comfortable atmosphere in which the food can be enjoyed. Her other passions include 4-year-old son Graham, traveling to warm water locales, snorkeling, interior designing and cats.
