History
Established in 1989.
The Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant & Pub, is located on the bayside of North Longboat Key in the heart of Longboat Village. Originally built in 1912, and spared when a hurricane in 1921 wiped out large chunks of the Island, this Old Florida style restaurant is considered one of the twelve oldest surviving structures on Longboat Key. Mar Vista now welcomes diners to Marker 39 for expertly prepared fresh seafood, salads, and steaks, accompanied by a full bar and a selection of fine wines.

Ed Chiles was born into a family that was centered on protecting that culture and ensuring that it survives for future generations.Ed's father, Lawton Chiles, fulfilled that family mission from Florida's leadership as a senator and finally as a governor of the state. Ed Chiles continues to fulfill his family's mission through his work leading the way in adopting environmental policies in his businesses and his professional life. Ed has spearheaded numerous local conservation and revitalization efforts including recently working to restore the clam beds around the Bradenton Beach area.
