Established in 1990.

We are a Southwest Florida original. We began in the Cape in 1990 and expanded to Fort Myers in 1993. We opened our Bonita Springs location in 1999. We are celebrating our 30th year in business this year!

The Founding owner is Dirk Atherton along with partner & executive chef, Julian Prieto, opened the original Cape Coral Iguana Mia in September of 1990. Its was the typical Triple-D type operation in those days as the business was opened on a minimal budget with limited resources. Mix matched tables, plastic chairs and a collection of old or previously owned restaurant equipment with little to no décor was the look and feel of Iguana Mia in 1990.....but our recipes were solid, food was made to order, drinks were good and the staff provided customer service which was better than most.  Only took a few years to start upgrading the facility, equipment and décor.....business was off and running. Chef Julian still oversees food preparation and production along with our VP/Director of Operations, Todd Harrison, make sure we are still working each day to meet your dining expectations.  Thank you SWFL for making us #Juan since 1990
